Description
Sutton House is a house dating from the mid-17th century, with additions from the 18th century and a refronting in the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof, and the front is faced in ashlar. The building has two storeys. The rear wing features kneelers and has one four-light recessed square stone mullion window on each storey, along with two tall six-light square stone mullion windows with two transoms each on its other side. The left gable of the main block includes two three-light double chamfered stone mullion windows. The main front, facing Sutton Hall Drive, is symmetrical and consists of three bays, with a plinth, cornice, and rusticated quoins. The windows are casements with all glazing bars set in plain stone surrounds. The doorway features an eared architrave, a pulvinated frieze, and a cornice, with a door made up of six raised and fielded panels. The house has three chimneys. Inside the main block, there is a small elliptical fireplace and a large segmental fireplace, while the interior of the rear wing was not accessible.
