Description
Former Aireville Hall at Aireville School is a building constructed as the home of the Dewhirst family, who were silk and cotton manufacturers. The porch is dated 1836. It is built in the Tudor style using ashlar stone and features clustered octagonal chimneys, a porch with a 4-centred arch, and octagonal turrets. The windows are cross-shaped with stone mullions and transoms. The garden front includes a shallow rectangular bay window and a shield of arms in the gable, which also has another gable dated 1836. There is a 4-centred arch that connects the house to a two-storey stable block, which is designed in a similar style. Inside the house, there are some plaster ceilings, friezes, and stone flagged floors.
