Description
Sigsworth Grange and the attached barn are a farmhouse and barn complex dating from the early 18th century. The buildings are constructed of coursed squared stone and ashlar, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has two bays, with quoins at the corners.
On the ground floor, to the right of the left-hand bay, there is a board door set in a plain stone surround, flanked by wide two-light moulded mullion windows featuring 12-pane casements. To the right of these is a small single-light arched chamfered fire window. The first floor has two three-light moulded chamfered windows with flat-faced mullions. The roof features a ridge stack and an end stack to the right, both with stone coping.
The attached barn to the left has two byre doors, one with a flat head and the other with a segment head. There is also an advanced 20th-century gabled bay beyond to the left. This farm was rebuilt on the site of the monastic grange of Byland Abbey.
