Description

The roadside preaching cross, located to the south-west of the church in Great Ormside, is a late medieval cross-base that is square in plan and constructed from large unmortared blocks. It features five steps leading up to the cross, which was destroyed during the Commonwealth period. Shortly after its destruction, a sycamore sapling was planted in its place, and this tree has since matured, causing the steps to be displaced.
