Description
Ploverigg Farmhouse is a house that likely has a core dating from the 17th century, with a date of 1778 inscribed on the lintel above the inner front door, along with the initials I. & R.M., which probably indicate a remodeling. The building has undergone alterations and additions in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed, squared rubble with quoins and features a graduated slate roof. The house is two storeys tall and was originally symmetrical, with three bays, although a bay was added to the right in the 19th century. There is a gabled porch with a part-glazed door, and on each floor, there is a three-light window to the left with paired sash windows and a single sash window to the right. The rear of the house retains the remains of 17th-century chamfered window surrounds. The property has stone mid and end chimneys, and inside, there are some original plank doors.
