8/176 Hardendale Hall with adjoining byres and scullery

Farmhouse. Dated 1747, with initials H:R, on panel over door but probably has C17 core; heightened and extended. Later additions and alterations. Coursed, squared rubble with quoins. Graduated slate roofs (rear pitch of left-hand byre is corrugated iron); stone copings and kneelers. 2 storeys; 3-bay house has panelled door in pedimented doorcase. 3-light casement window to left and 2-light to right on each floor, all stone-mullioned. Rendered end chimneys. Byre set back on right, added under same roof-line, has steps up to loft door in chamfered surround. Lower, later, byre (with outshut) set back on left; byre door in chamfered surround, and steps up to loft door, to rear. Rear of right-hand byre has window and chamfered byre door surround. Single-storey lean-to scullery adjoins at right-angles. Lean-to wagon shed adjoining return of left-hand byre not of interest.
