Description
No. 157 Stricklandgate is a house, now subdivided, dating from the early 19th century with later additions and alterations. It is constructed from limestone blocks with quoins and features a moulded cast-iron gutter supported by dentils. The roof is covered with graduated slate and has two small skylights, along with stone chimneys at each end. The building has a symmetrical design, consisting of two storeys and three bays. The entrance includes a painted glass fanlight and a 20th-century part-glazed door set in a semicircular-headed surround with moulded imposts. There are sash windows with glazing bars on either side and three above the door. Inside, some original cornicing remains, and the ground floor doors have figures carved in low relief on their upper panels, likely added in the late 19th century.
