Description

Yew Tree Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, located in Lower Allithwaite Barn Garth, near Cartmel. It is constructed of roughcast stone with a slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has a central entrance plan across three bays. It has sash windows with glazing bars. The entrance features a stone opening with chamfered edges; one stone incorporates lozenge moulding, and is topped by a bracketed flat canopy. A 10-panel door is located within the opening. A gable-end stack is present. Inside, there is a plank and muntin partition, and the fireplace features fluted flat pilasters and fielded panels. A winding stair is situated in a rear projection.
