Description
Abbots Beck House is a house located in Cartmel, likely dating from the 17th century and built on medieval foundations. The exterior is roughcast stone with a slate roof and features a projecting wing next to Priory Close. The south elevation has two storeys and one bay, with a ground floor window that is a flat-mullioned cross window, a first-floor casement window, and a half-glazed door to the right. There is a cross-axial stack, and the return gable-end has small windows, including one in a stone surround in the attic. The north elevation includes a large lean-to outshut at the gable-end, with windows that have small-paned fixed glazing. The west elevation has two bays with sashed windows, a cross-axial stack, and an additional stack at the angle. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to include a medieval pointed doorway, which is part of the medieval Priory buildings.
