Description
Number 10 Mayfield and Bellevue is a pair of houses, now used as offices and a house, dating from the early to mid 19th century. They feature painted roughcast with painted ashlar dressings and a hipped slate roof, standing two storeys plus attics.
Bellevue, on the right, has five symmetrical bays and includes a plinth, pilaster strips on either side, a first-floor sill band, an eaves band, and a stone cornice gutter. The windows are glazing bar sashes with very narrow surrounds, and the attic is illuminated by two round-headed dormers. A central Ionic porch, raised on three steps, features pilaster responds, a cornice, and a blocking course.
No. 10 (Mayfield) on the left is a single bay, treated similarly but with slightly lower storeys and without glazing bars in the sashes. The interior of Bellevue includes mahogany doors set in reeded doorcases. The stair hall has a semicircular rear wall and features a geometrical stair with stick balusters and a wreathed mahogany handrail.
