Description
The barns north-west of Fieldgarth, dated 1722 and featuring the initials S.G. on a repositioned lintel, were originally part of a farmhouse. An early 19th-century barn extension has been added. The structure is built from red sandstone rubble with a corrugated asbestos roof and consists of two storeys and four bays, with a two-bay barn under a common roof. A 19th-century entrance on the left has a reused 18th-century chamfered lintel. The building includes two-light mullioned windows, and a smaller fire window to the extreme right, all of which are now open and unglazed. A right-angle 19th-century extension at the front is not included in the listing. The barn to the left is constructed of red sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features two ground floor entrances with plain quoined surrounds. There is also a loft entrance that has a reused dated and inscribed lintel. The barns are listed partly for their group value with the nearby farmhouse.
