Description

The former Brew and Bakehouse, now serving as kitchens, stores, and living accommodation above, is located to the southeast of Dallam Tower. It was built in the early 19th century by G. Webster and has undergone later alterations. The building features scored stucco with sandstone dressings and a graduated greenslate roof, and it is L-shaped with two storeys.

On the east elevation, there are five sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor, and three five-light windows with 19th-century chamfered stone mullions, transoms, and leaded glazing on the ground floor. The north elevation of the south wing includes three sash windows with glazing bars above two three-light 19th-century mullioned windows, similar to those on the east elevation, along with an archway featuring a round head and rusticated voussoirs to the right.

The building has a plinth, rusticated quoins, and five corniced chimneys. A small tower topped with a cupola and weathervane, supported by eight columns, matches the clocktower on the stable but does not have a clock. Inside, the first floor showcases fine early 19th-century woodwork throughout the living accommodation.
