Description

Pinfold is a late 18th century to early 19th century circular enclosure located in Dalton in Furness. It is constructed of limestone rubble and measures approximately 10 meters in diameter and 1 to 2 meters in height. The enclosure features an opening on the west side, which includes a limestone gatepost and a 20th-century iron gate. The top of the wall is adorned with triangular copings. Pinfold is depicted on Merryweather's town plan of Dalton, which was surveyed in 1825.
