Village hall. c1875. For patron the Duke of Buccleuch. Limestone and slate rubble with red sandstone dressings, finely graduated slate roof. Single storey, 6 bays. Rock-faced quoins. Gabled porches to bay 1 and 6 have projecting sills to altered sashes beneath plain bargeboards; quoined Tudor-arched doorways on the inner returns. Bays 2-5 each have a 12-pane casement with projecting stone sill and quoined surround. Oversailing verges with plain bargeboards; small end stacks. INTERIOR: ceiling underdrawn; feet of 5 trusses visible. Part of village rebuilding scheme undertaken for the Duke of Buccleuch. Included for group value.
