Description

Low Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1883, located in Barrow in Furness. It is constructed from limestone and slate rubble with red sandstone dressings and features a graduated slate roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with a central two-storey porch and a wing at the rear left.

The exterior includes a chamfered plinth and rock-faced quoins. The porch opening is adorned with quoins and a Tudor arch, leading to a square-headed door with an overlight. A dripmould extends across the outer bays, which contain 3-light and 2-light windows with plain sashes, chamfered stone mullions, and quoined surrounds. On the first floor, the porch features a date plaque and a moulded oversailing course beneath a matching 3-light window with a hoodmould, while the outer bays have 2-light windows.

The eaves course is cavetto-moulded, and the porch and end gables display shaped kneelers, chamfered gable copings, and ball finials. The building has quoined end stacks, and at the rear, there are twin 4-pane sashes and a round-headed stair window.
