Description

Candia is a mid-19th century building that may have once served as a school and is now a private house. It is constructed of red sandstone and features a slate roof in the Gothic style. The building has a gabled porch with decorative bargeboards and a pointed arch. The corners are accentuated with quoins. The inner door is Gothic panelled, topped by a pointed arched fanlight that includes Gothic glazing bars. On either side of the porch, there are two-light windows with four-centred arched lights set in square heads, each with a label. Similar windows are located above in the gabled half-dormers, with an additional half-dormer to the right. The building is topped with stone chimneys.
