Description

Cold Springs is an early 19th-century hunting lodge, originally belonging to Lord Lonsdale, designed with its facade facing Lowther Castle. The main house is now divided into two properties. The front elevation features scored stucco, with a central gable and a pointed archway over the doorway. Flanking the centre are two two-light windows on each floor, each with round-headed lights and flat labels. At each end of the front façade are three-storeyed towers, each with a three-light window on each floor. The rear of the lodge is set on three sides of a cobbled courtyard, which contains a coach-house, barn, stable, and loft accessible by external stone steps.
