Description

Number 28 with attached stables is a farmhouse with stables, dated 1725 and likely early 19th century respectively. The farmhouse is built of roughcast stone with a slate and 20th-century tile roof, while the stables are of exposed rubble with a graduated slate roof.

The farmhouse is two storeys high, with a three-window front on the right side of the attached three-bay stables. The front door is a part-glazed six-panel door, set under a moulded sandstone slab supported by shaped brackets; a date plaque reading 'NC-1725' is set into the lintel. Double-sash windows with raised surrounds and large-section mullions flank the door, and a boarded door is located to the far right. The first floor has three plain sashes in raised surrounds and four shaped stone gutter brackets. Brick end stacks are visible, and the roof over the right end is lower than the rest.

The stables feature large quoins on the left side, four boarded windows with slate sills and lintels, and a door on the right. There are two slit vents to the first floor, and a boarded-up taking-in door on the right side. Shaped kneelers and copings are present on the left gable. The interior of the stables contains wooden stalls, likely dating back to the early 19th century.
