Description
The farm buildings located immediately to the south-east of Number 14 are a barn and shippons, likely built in the late 18th century. They are constructed from mixed rubble with some red sandstone dressings and feature a graduated slate roof. The buildings have a two-storey, L-shaped plan and are characterized by large quoins. The barn includes a 20th-century boarded door set beneath a basket arch, various square vent holes, and a segmentally-arched winnowing door on the south side. The northern range has an arched door located beneath the landing of external stone steps, with altered openings on the right flank, including a doorway beneath an arch. There is also a first-floor door with a wooden lintel. A later lean-to on the left side of the steps is not of special interest. These farm buildings were once part of a larger complex that included the now-demolished farmhouse, Number 12 North Scale.
