Description

This milestone, located in a layby to the left of the A591, is approximately 200 meters north of Ratherheath Lane. It was likely made in the late 19th century and is constructed from limestone with chamfered edges. The stone is painted white, with plain incised lettering that is painted black. On the north side, it indicates that Kendal is 3 miles away, while the south side, set diagonally, shows that Windermere is 5½ miles distant.
