Description

The Grayson Memorials, located approximately 20 meters south of the Priory Church in Lower Allithwaite, are two chest tombs dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed from ashlar stone and feature nook balusters at the corners, with rounded edges and relief designs that include skulls, crossbones, and winged hourglasses. The northern tomb commemorates Robert, a mariner who died in 1739, his wife Elizabeth who died in 1749, and their children. The southern tomb honors Jane Grayson, who died in 1782, and Mary Bere, who died in 1793.
