Description
The New Mill Aqueduct on the Kendal/Lancaster Canal is an aqueduct built around 1816. It is likely designed by engineer John Fletcher, based on the original designs of John Rennie, whose canal route was authorized in 1792. The structure is made of squared coursed limestone with limestone copings. It features a single horseshoe arch that includes a keystone and voussoirs, along with curved, ramped retaining walls that end in battered pilasters.
