Description

The former gardener's quarters, located to the north-west of Skirwith Abbey House, date from the late 18th century and have undergone some 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of coursed rubble and features rusticated quoins. It has a hipped roof covered with graduated slate and a corniced stone chimney in the middle. The structure stands two storeys tall and originally had six bays on the front. It retains first-floor sash windows with glazing bars, although 20th-century garage doors have been added, and only one original door and one trompe l'oeil window remain. The south side has rusticated end pilasters and a blind Venetian window. At the north end, there is a barn range that projects to the rear. This building is included for its group value with the adjacent Skirwith Abbey.
