Description
The former coach house and stables, located to the north-east of Skirwith Abbey House, date from the late 18th century. The building is constructed from coursed, squared rubble and features rusticated quoins. It has a hipped roof covered with graduated slate and a corniced stone chimney at the north end. The front elevation is two stories high and consists of six bays, with some original openings either wholly or partially blocked. There are two trompe l'oeil windows on the first floor. The rear of the building includes a stable door and two coach doors. The south side has rusticated end pilasters and a blind Venetian window. This structure is included for its group value with the nearby Abbey.
