Description
Beech House and the adjoining stables were built in the late 18th century. The house is constructed of ashlar stone with rusticated quoins, a chamfered plinth, and a lintel above the ground floor windows. It features a graduated slate roof with stone copings and corniced end chimneys, along with moulded eaves. The symmetrical front of the house is two stories high and has three bays, with a central panelled door framed by an architrave and topped with a pediment. There is a 19th-century openwork cast-iron porch. On either side of the door are paired sash windows, and on the first floor, there are similar sash windows with a single central sash. All windows include glazing bars and stone surrounds.
The lower two-story stable is attached to the north end of the house. It is made of coursed, squared rubble with quoins and has an incised stucco front. The stable also has a graduated slate roof with stone coping. Its symmetrical front has five bays, with doors at either end and segmental arches featuring projecting keystones and impost blocks. There are two windows between the doors, and the first floor has a central loft access flanked by single windows, all with stone surrounds. The front of the house is identical to that of Sheriff House, located to the south.
