Description
A late 17th-century house, altered or rebuilt in the early 18th century, with later outbuildings. The house is constructed of stone rubble, with a roughcast finish on the north elevation, and has slate roofs. It has a roughly L-shaped layout. The north front has four bays, with the fourth bay lower than the others. The windows are sash windows, with a paired sash window to the third bay of the ground floor, and a casement window to the fourth bay of the first floor. The entrance to the second bay has a consoled cornice and a glazed door. Two datestones are positioned above the door, one inscribed ‘T R S/1665’ and the other ‘S R S/1733’. A lean-to porch extends from the fourth bay. Gable-end stacks are located on the first and third bays. A shed to the east has two segmental-headed cart entrances flanking a blocked entrance, featuring a coped gable with a ball finial. A barn to the west has entrances with cheeks. A stable wing projects northwards; its east elevation displays an oval plaque dated 1769, stable entrances, and a pitching hole, as well as a gable-end stack. The south elevation includes a gabled wing and a two-storey outshut with a catslide roof. A later glass lean-to has been added. The barn also has cheeks to its entrance and a later lean-to outbuilding. An outbuilding to the east has ventilation holes.
