Description
The Midland Bank is a bank building from the late 19th century, constructed of coursed red sandstone rubble on a chamfered plinth, featuring snecked quoins and a moulded sub cornice. The hipped slate roof has projecting eaves supported by shaped wooden eaves modillions and a large central chimney stack. The building stands three storeys high with a single bay facade and two bays on the sides. There are two entrances, each with four-panel doors set in pilaster strip surrounds, flanking a large three-pane bank window. Above, double sash windows are framed by pilaster surrounds with segmental heads, false keystones, and hood moulds. The building is listed partly for its group value with George House.
