Description
The former house and stable behind the Red Lion Inn dates from the early 18th century. It features coursed red sandstone rubble walls and a sandstone slate roof, with stone chimney stacks at each end. The building is two stories high, with a single-bay house and a two-bay stable under a common roof. The entrance to the house is on the right and has a plank door with a plain stone surround. There is a two-light stone flat mullioned window on the ground floor, which has 20th-century filling, while a similar window above is open. To the left, the stable, which likely has a granary above, has a plank door with a plain stone surround and a similar loft door above to the right. There are projecting corbel stones for missing external steps. A 20th-century ground floor window is to the left, and above it, there is an 18th-century casement window with a plain stone surround. This building is included partly for its group value with the Red Lion Inn.
