Description

The coffin rest at Low Millgillhead, located in the garden approximately 35 yards northeast of the house, dates from the 18th century, with later additions and alterations. It features a drystone plinth that is about 3 feet high, 8.5 feet long, and 4.5 feet wide, topped with a slab and a wall built over the north side. The central shaft is made of monolithic sandstone, standing around 4.5 feet high, and has stop-chamfers. This shaft may have originally been a sundial.
