Description
The stone coffin and lid located 10 metres south of the Grey monument is a Grade II listed structure, likely dating from the 12th century. It was moved to its current position in the late 18th century or early 19th century. The coffin is made of cut sandstone and measures 1.96 metres in length, featuring a shaped head end and a drain hole. The tapering lid is adorned with a very worn incised cross that has slightly-splayed arms, along with traces of an emblem that may represent a pair of shears on the right side.
