Description

Stockhill Cottage is an estate house built in the 1870s for the Lawson family, located in Brayton, Aspatria. The building features hammer-dressed red sandstone walls and is topped with a graduated greenslate roof that has sandstone chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays. The central bay is gabled and has a panelled door with a patterned overlight and a right side light, all set within a round-headed recess. Above this door is a Venetian window, and the gable includes a quatrefoil design. The side bays contain sash windows with glazing bars that intersect in pointed heads.
