Description

Peartree House is a house dated and inscribed over the entrance with “I.N. 1686 GOD FEARE.” 20th-century alterations have been made. The walls are painted roughcast, built upon a prominent base of large projecting plinth stones, and covered by a graduated greenslate roof with painted roughcast chimney stacks. Set within a chamfered surround under a Tudor arch is a 20th-century door, displaying the date and inscription, and above this is a hoodmould. The windows are 20th-century lead-paned casements in original chamfered surrounds; the stone mullions have been removed, with a continuous drip mould running along the ground floor and individual hoodmoulds above each window. A quatrefoil window sits above the entrance. A 20th-century door and sash windows with glazing bars, set within 19th-century painted stone surrounds, are visible on the left side wall. A rear extension, added in the 20th century, is not of particular interest.
