Description
Croft House and the adjoining former stables date from the late 17th century and have undergone some alterations in the 19th century. The building features painted incised stucco with an eaves cornice, topped by a graduated greenslate roof and incised rendered chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with the left side originally being a four-bay stable under the same roof.
The house has a panelled door with an overlight, set within a painted stone architrave that is topped by a console-bracketed cornice. The windows are sash style, framed in painted stone surrounds. The stable includes a cross-passage plank door in a chamfered surround, complete with a hoodmould. There is a central plank door with a loft doorway above, both in chamfered stone surrounds. To the left, there are 20th-century plank garage doors. Above, small original windows with chamfered stone surrounds are present, although two on the right have been blocked and replaced by a Victorian sash window.
Inside the house, the ground floor and bedrooms feature beamed ceilings. This building is included for its group value with Papcastle House.
