Description

This is a mid-18th century house and extension, later divided into two properties and with 19th-century additions. The main house and West Garth together form an L-shape. The walls are painted roughcast, featuring heavily-moulded eaves cornices and V-jointed quoins. The roof is of graduated greenslate, with kneelers, and rebuilt incised cement chimney stacks. The original house has two and a half storeys and five bays, with a three-bay rear extension. A two-storey, four-bay extension to the left front forms West Garth. A 20th-century door is set within a stone architrave. The house has sash windows in stone surrounds, with hoods over the windows and door, except for the smaller attic casements. The rear extension also has sash windows in stone surrounds. West Garth has two levels of two bays, with sash and casement windows in painted stone surrounds.
