Description
Brisco Hall is a farmhouse dated 1610, as indicated on the lintel stone, which also features the initials T.P. and M.P. The building is constructed from coursed red sandstone rubble with squared quoins and has a slightly pitched slate roof, although the original stone-slate roof remains only in the bottom course. It has two storeys and five bays.
Originally, there were two entrances, but now there is only one. This entrance has an inscribed lintel and a moulded surround, which is partly covered by a 1930s gabled porch supported by two re-used Ionic reeded columns on square bases from Woodside, Wreay. To the left of the main entrance, there is a filled doorway that has been converted into a window, featuring a carved lintel that creates a false pointed head.
All the windows have chamfered mullions and surrounds, arranged in configurations of two, three, and four lights, with a continuous hood mould above the windows on both floors. The building is set at right angles to the road and faces into the farmyard. The listing does not include other farm buildings associated with Brisco Hall.
