Description

The tower located north of Eden School is possibly a dovecote, built around 1835 for George Head Head, the original owner of the house now known as Eden School. The structure features walls made of a mix of red and yellow dressed sandstone and has an octagonal pointed roof covered with slate. It stands three storeys high and is octagonal in shape, which is quite late for a dovecote. Given the owner's fondness for tower follies, it is possible that this building was relocated from another site. Each of the four faces has a lancet opening on every storey, all with chamfered surrounds, while the entrance has a plain surround. There is a string course at each storey level, and the roof timbers are exposed with slates that are nearly gone. There are no notable internal features.
