Description
The Southern Range of Buildings, adjoining the Flag Tower, includes garages, store rooms, and Castle Cottage, and dates from around 1800. These stone buildings were originally stables and coach-houses. The central square tower features a coach entrance, a clock, and coachmen's rooms above, making it three storeys tall in total. To the left are two-storey garages with two upper windows that have pointed arched lights and net tracery. To the right is a cottage with three pointed arched windows, also featuring net tracery. The inhabited parts of Cockermouth Castle form a group with the uninhabited parts.
