Description
Caldew Bank is a house dating from the early 19th century, constructed with English garden wall bond brickwork and featuring a slate roof and stucco chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and three bays. It includes a sandstone plinth course and a round-headed brick arch over the entrance, which is a recessed six-panel door with a glazed fanlight above. The windows are adorned with slightly round brick heads and stone sills, and they are fitted with sashes that have glazing bars. There are steps leading up to the entrance and a brick-filled cellar window located to the right. The house has modillions beneath the gutter. It served as the mill owner's residence for the nearby Cummersdale Mill and is depicted in a painting of the mill from 1844.
