Description

Norman House is a house built in the late 1860s or early 1870s, likely for Thomas Henry Graham of Edmond Castle. It features mixed red and calciferous sandstone coursed rubble on a chamfered plinth, with red sandstone quoins and dressings. The roof is made of Welsh slate and has coped gables, along with round stone chimney stacks that have battlemented caps, and one 20th-century brick chimney stack.

The house is two storeys high and has an L-shape with two bays on each side, and an inner angle that contains a three-storey square tower. The ground floor has mullioned windows, while the upper floor features single lights with round heads and zigzag decorated surrounds. The window on the right has a recessed two-light Norman style columned surround, all equipped with glazing bars. The tower includes a recessed roundel with a zigzag surround and a two-light Norman style window above with a columned surround, topped with a pyramidal stone roof that has shaped modillions.

There is a projecting staircase tower facing the churchyard, which has round-headed lancets, a decorated cornice, and a battlemented parapet. A round-headed window at the rear has a diamond-paned iron casement. The house is listed partly for its group value with the nearby church.
