Description
Toppin Castle is a farmhouse designed to resemble a tower house, built in the mid-19th century for George Head Head. It is constructed from hammer-dressed red sandstone, featuring large quoins and a modillioned battlemented parapet that conceals the roof. The building has a four-storey square tower with a hexagonal five-storey stair turret at one angle, and a two-storey, two-bay extension at the rear. A 20th-century glazed door is set within a chamfered round arch. The windows are one, two, and three-light lancets, fitted with steel and wooden casements that include glazing bars and are surrounded by chamfered stone. Additionally, there is a recessed carved panel displaying the coat of arms of the patron.
