Description

Two houses forming part of a terrace in Carlisle, built in the late 1840s or early 1850s. They are constructed of Flemish bond brickwork with a chamfered plinth and dressings of calciferous sandstone. The buildings have a hipped Welsh slate roof with a roof dormer and skylight, and rendered brick chimney stacks. Number 2 has two bays, with a two-bay return on Warwick Road, while Number 4 has three bays. Number 2 features a panelled door, and Number 4 has a 20th-century door, both set within Tuscan dentilled doorcases with overlights. Sash windows are recessed within brick reveals, with stone sills and flat brick arches. The interiors remain uninspected. The houses are documented on Asquith’s Survey of Carlisle from 1853.
