Description

The wall behind West Cumberland College of Science and Technology is an early 18th-century structure, possibly dating to around 1690. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and measures approximately 20 meters in length. The south side features two and a half semicircular headed ridges with stone keys, which may have been used for supporting fruit trees. At one time, this wall was part of the garden of Whitehaven Castle.
