Description

Bowness House is a farmhouse, originally divided into two houses, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of painted roughcast walls with painted V-jointed quoins, and has a graduated greenslate roof with brick and ashlar chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and comprises a three-bay section in an L-shape, and a two-storey, four-bay section to the rear. A 20th-century door is set within a painted stone surround. Sash windows with glazing bars are set in painted stone surrounds. The rear wall contains 20th-century windows in irregular openings. The building is listed partly for its group value, referencing a former house to the left, which is now an outbuilding.
