Description
The Hope and Anchor Inn is a public house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed red sandstone rubble with raised painted quoins and features a graduated hipped greenslate roof with stone chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and three bays, with a two-bay extension to the rear that creates an overall T-shape. The entrance consists of a 20th-century door with a fanlight, set in a painted stone surround beneath a cornice. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, also framed in painted stone surrounds, and the extension mirrors these details. The inn is set well back from the road, as it was located next to the field used for the Rosley cattle fairs.
