Description
The garden wall located to the south-east of Newbiggin Hall is a Grade II listed structure. It incorporates parts of an earlier out-building wall, with filled entrances and windows that likely date from the late 15th century or early 16th century. The wall was converted into a garden wall, probably in the late 17th century, and the windows were filled in during the early 19th century. The wall is constructed of red sandstone. The garden entrance piers feature rusticated joints and a moulded cornice topped with carved stone balls, which are likely from the late 17th century. This wall is probably linked to the original out-buildings associated with Newbiggin Hall, a former tower house.
