Description
Candlemas Cottage is a cottage formerly known as Cemetery Cottage, built around 1835 by Sarah Losh for the Sexton of Wreay Church. The cottage features dressed calciferous sandstone walls and a slate roof, with the bottom course made of stone-slates and a 20th-century brick chimney stack. It is one and a half storeys high and has two bays. The entrance includes a plank door set in a plain surround, flanked by two round-headed windows with matching surrounds; these windows are 20th-century two-light iron casements. The rear wall has similar round-headed windows, along with arched small round-headed attic windows, each containing five lights. There is a 20th-century flat-roofed extension on the left and a garage extension on the right, which are not included in the listing.
