Description

The re-erected font in Wreay Churchyard dates from 1733, although the church guide suggests it may be from 1738. It is made of red sandstone and features a squared base and a chamfered-edged column. At the top, it has a square shallow bowl with moulded panels on each face, one of which is dated. The font was removed from the earlier church during its rebuilding in 1842 and now serves as an ornamental feature to the left of the west entrance of the churchyard.
