Description
1 and 2, The Green, are two houses resulting from the conversion of a former grammar school, dated 1815. The inscription "BUILT BY SUBSCRIPTION" and "AUT DISCE AUT DISCEDE" flank the central window. The building is constructed of coursed red sandstone, with raised painted V-jointed quoins. It has a graduated hipped greenslate roof and 20th-century brick chimney stacks. The building is single-storied and consists of 5 bays, featuring 20th-century casement windows set within plain painted stone surrounds. 20th-century entrance porches, which are not of particular interest architecturally, are positioned on either side.
