Description

The Blue Bell is a public house located in Dalston, dating from the early 18th century. It features painted rendered walls on a painted squared plinth and has a graduated slate roof with a rendered chimney stack. The building is two storeys high and consists of four bays. It has six-panel doors and broad sash windows with glazing bars and painted stone sills. There is a small ground floor fire window that now has leaded panes. A 20th-century public house wall sign is situated between the floors, and there is a projecting 1930s swing sign on a wrought iron bracket at first floor level. The Blue Bell was taken over by the Central Control Board in 1916 and returned to private ownership in 1973. The listing does not include the outbuildings at the rear.
