Description
The former Stationmaster's House at Cumwhinton Station was built in 1875. It is constructed from red sandstone ashlar and features a slate roof, designed in a restrained Gothic style. The building is L-shaped and has two storeys with two bays. The entrance front includes a two-storey gabled projection and a gabled porch. On the garden side, there is a projecting gabled bay and a gabled dormer. All the windows are cambered headed casements, and each gable is adorned with pierced bargeboards. The house has an ashlar stack with clustered shafts. There is a modern extension at the rear. This building was constructed for the Settle-Carlisle line of the Midland Railway and is included for its group value.
